Their sole purpose is to offer us help in the form of guidance. They bring with them their knowledge and experience. Each has their own field of expertise.
As we grow and change, so do our needs. Some spirit guides have been with us since before we were born and will remain for our entire lives, while other guides will come and go depending on our specific needs.
Spirit guides come from varying levels of consciousness. They will usually appear to have either male or female energy. They may be a dearly departed relative, a regular Joe or Jane who specializes in a certain area, or an ascended master.
How To Connect With Your Spirit Guides
Being psychic is not a requirement to connect with your spirit guides. Maintaining an open mind with no preconceived notions is essential though.
Start with introductions. Ask for the name of your guide. Request that your guide make his or her presence known to you. Ask your guide to please impart any wisdom, information, advice, or messages that you need to be aware of. Say thank you.
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
Our spirit guides want us to contact them. They are waiting to assist us. No request is too big or too small. But because they honor the boundaries of our free will, they patiently wait to help us until we directly and clearly ask them to come forward with guidance.
SEEK A SIGN
Request that your guides send you a sign. Pick a particular object that you wish to receive from them specifically—a leaf, flower, feather, butterfly, hummingbird, etc.
DURING PRAYER OR MEDITATION
When you have the ability to quiet the mind from random thoughts, focus solely on making contact with your guide or guides. This is of vital importance.
WHILE YOU SLEEP
Before you go to bed ask your spirit guides to come to you as you sleep. When you wake in the morning, be prepared with pen and paper to write down what messages you received during slumber. Whether you have conscious memory of your meeting or not, be open to the information they provided. Jot down dreams, visions, symbols, words or phrases that come to you.
Our spirit guides see and know what is going on in our lives. They have tuned into our energy and are eager to assist. Our very best interests are their primary purpose. They want to successfully direct us on our earthly journey.
While they are respectful of waiting for us to ask for help, there are times when they will intervene on our behalf to safeguard us.
When Your Spirit Guide is Near: Recognizing Signs and Synchronicities
If you are in your garden pulling weeds and three different hummingbirds flutter in your face over the course of your time outside, I would say that somebody is trying to tell you something.
PUTTING PEOPLE IN YOUR PATH
Perhaps you are contemplating moving. While at the grocery store you bump carts with a woman and start a conversation. She tells you that she is frazzled because it is her responsibility to organize a move for her parents and sell their house. Coincidence? I think not.
GUT FEELINGS
There are instances where we get these sensations deep inside. It may be a feeling of dread or an inclination to follow a certain direction. Heed these gut feelings. They may be your guide nudging or poking at you to get your attention.
SIXTH SENSE
You are driving home after a late work meeting. You hear a voice in your head that tells you not to turn down Sullivan Street, take a right on Houston Boulevard instead. You listen to your intuitive side. The next morning while watching the news you hear there was a murder involving two neighbors. Guess where? Sullivan Street. Many people would have brushed off that warning of intuitive information. Learn to listen to that inner voice.
