The Truth About Diabetes
By International Healer Omar Botha
Introduction
For decades, diabetes has been explained as a simple equation: insulin + pancreas = blood sugar. People are told that type 2 diabetes comes from bad diet and lack of exercise, and that type 1 diabetes is “autoimmune,” meaning the body attacks the pancreas.
But when you look deeper, you discover that these explanations are only surface-level — placeholders, not answers.
Diabetes is not random. It is not genetic destiny. It is not the body attacking itself. And it is not caused by sugar alone. The truth is far more complex — and far more hopeful.
The Hidden Stages of Blood Sugar Imbalance
Medical communities recognize two commonly used stages: prediabetes and diabetes. But from a deeper healing perspective, there can be earlier stages of imbalance that may exist long before conventional testing identifies a problem.
- Pre-prediabetes
- Pre-pre-prediabetes
- Early liver imbalance
- Early pancreatic stress
These stages can exist for years before blood tests show anything abnormal. This is why two people can eat the same diet and live the same lifestyle — yet only one develops diabetes. From my healing perspective, the liver plays a central role in this difference.
The Liver’s Role in Diabetes
Diabetes begins long before blood sugar rises. In my healing work, the liver is one of the most important organs to consider when looking at blood-sugar imbalance.
The liver stores glucose and glycogen — the fuel your body needs between meals. When the liver becomes sluggish, stagnant, or overloaded with fats, toxins, or viral debris, its ability to properly store and release glucose may become compromised.
This can place additional stress on the pancreas and contribute to unstable blood-sugar patterns over time.
Key Points
- A sluggish liver can interfere with healthy blood-sugar regulation.
- Excess dietary fat can place additional metabolic stress on the body.
- Blood fat and insulin resistance are important factors to consider.
- Fruit and other natural sources of carbohydrates are not automatically the enemy.
Type 1 and Type 1.5 Diabetes — A Deeper Perspective
My healing perspective differs from the conventional explanation of type 1 and type 1.5 diabetes. I do not view the body as an enemy attacking itself. I look instead at the possibility of external influences and underlying factors that may contribute to pancreatic injury.
These may include:
- Viral infections
- Bacterial infections
- Food poisoning
- Toxins
- Physical trauma
In my healing work, I also consider viral activity and its potential relationship with pancreatic and liver health. Some forms of tissue injury may not be obvious through conventional imaging.
The message is simple: the body should not automatically be viewed as the enemy. We must also ask what the body may be responding to.
Why Sugar Is Not the Enemy
Sugar has been blamed for diabetes for decades, but from my healing perspective, sugar can be viewed as a messenger rather than the fundamental cause of the imbalance.
The deeper issue I focus on is the metabolic environment in which blood sugar is being transported and used by the body.
Look beyond the sugar.
Look at the whole system.
Healthy Sugars & Natural Foods
Natural sources of carbohydrates can provide the body with glucose together with minerals, antioxidants and plant compounds.
Examples include:
- Fresh fruit
- Potatoes
- Squash
- Natural honey
- Mineral-rich vegetables
From my healing perspective, nourishing the body with whole, natural foods can be an important part of supporting the liver, energy production and overall metabolic balance.
Why High-Fat Diets Deserve Attention
Many popular dietary approaches — including keto, paleo and carnivore approaches — can contain substantial amounts of dietary fat.
Even foods commonly considered healthy, such as nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut and oils, can contribute significant amounts of fat when consumed in large quantities.
From a Healing Perspective, Excessive Dietary Fat May:
- Place additional metabolic stress on the body
- Interfere with healthy glucose metabolism
- Contribute to insulin resistance in susceptible individuals
- Make blood-sugar patterns more difficult to understand
- Place additional demands on the liver
This is why I encourage people to look beyond individual foods and consider the overall metabolic environment of the body.
Viruses and Diabetes
In my healing work, viral activity is an important factor that I consider when looking at chronic illness and pancreatic health.
I believe certain foods can create an environment that is less supportive of healing, particularly when the body is already under stress.
Reducing foods that do not serve the individual can be part of a broader nutritional approach designed to support the liver, pancreas and whole body.
The Body Is Not the Enemy
Diabetes is not punishment.
Diabetes is not a reason to believe that your body has failed you.
Your body is constantly working to protect you, adapt to your environment and restore balance.
Your body is fighting for you.
Your body is protecting you.
Your body is trying to stabilize you every single day.
When you begin to understand the deeper causes and influences surrounding blood-sugar imbalance — including the role of the liver — you can begin to approach your health with greater clarity, awareness and hope.
The Path Forward
From my healing perspective, supporting the body begins with returning to natural, nourishing principles.
- Reducing excessive dietary fats
- Choosing natural sources of carbohydrates
- Supporting healthy liver function
- Reducing foods that may not serve your individual healing journey
- Eating mineral-rich vegetables
- Choosing fresh, whole and minimally processed foods
- Supporting the body as a whole rather than focusing only on blood sugar
When the liver and metabolic system are properly supported, blood-sugar balance may improve and overall health can move in a more positive direction.
The Truth About Diabetes
Your body is not broken.
Your body is not confused.
Your body is communicating with you and waiting for the right support.
Diabetes can be viewed not simply as a diagnosis, but as a message from the body — a message asking us to look deeper at the liver, the pancreas, nutrition, inflammation and the whole system.
Healing is possible.
Clarity is possible.
Strength is possible.

Fillings
All fillings contain some level of toxic materials. Most people need to get multiple fillings in their lifetime, so it's unavoidable that we have some toxic exposure from them.
If you get new cavities, select the safest filling option available—and make sure it doesn’t contain mercury. Porcelain/ceramic fillings are better than other filling choices. Anything is better than a filling that contains mercury.
Mercury Fillings
It’s common knowledge that mercury fillings are not ideal. But contrary to popular belief, the best answer isn't necessarily to have them removed by your dentist.
Firstly, unless a tooth with a mercury amalgam cracks, breaks or decays, it’s best to not remove your fillings. The mercury is contained and will be far less detrimental to your health if they’re left alone. If a filling is damaged by a tooth breaking or decaying, that’s when it is helpful to remove the amalgam.
If you are someone who already struggles with a host of health issues, such as memory loss, heart palpitations, brain fog, deficiencies, a heavy viral or toxic load, sensitive nervous system and many more, it’s particularly important to leave them where they are so the removal doesn’t trigger even more sickness. It’s tragic to see people, who were already experiencing health issues, remove all of their fillings at once and then experience a collapse of their health and wellbeing.
If you’re insistent that you want to remove your mercury amalgams or they’re broken and you have several of them, it’s important you do not remove them all at once. Instead, try to visit a well-equipped biological, holistic, or trusted conventional dentist and have them removed one at a time every month, every three months, or even every six months depending on your overall health.
As a filling is removed, mercury in the amalgam can vaporize, enter the bloodstream, and weaken the immune system. Spacing out the removal process of each amalgam allows the immune system to recover from the release of the mercury and helps minimize the impact on your health. This is especially important if you already struggle with neurological symptoms, sensitivities, or illness.
The removal of these fillings and the subsequent vaporized mercury act as a trigger, and when the immune system is in a weakened state, viral and bacterial infections such as Epstein-Barr virus and streptococcus can easily take root and grow stronger by feeding on the mercury released into the bloodstream. Many people suffer from neurological symptoms and conditions such as severe anxiety, depression, tingles, numbness, brain fog, memory loss, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, MS, ringing in the ears, vertigo, dizziness, fatigue, and many other mystery symptoms after having their fillings removed all at once because of this.
If you’ve already removed your fillings all at once, do not be disheartened. You can still recover. It’s time to dive into the heavy metal detox protocol...
What about silver fillings?
Many people have been exposed to mercury through metal amalgam dental fillings. Having them removed isn’t as easy a fix as it sounds. The extraction process can re-expose someone to the mercury the fillings contain, because removal emits mercury vapor that can easily enter the bloodstream. That’s why I recommend only having one silver filling removed per dentist’s visit, and that’s only if the silver filling is starting to fall apart or loosen or if there’s a problem with the tooth. Have you ever had a fluoride treatment? Even if not recently, have you had one at any point over the years, perhaps going back to childhood? The fluoride used for treatments is a byproduct of aluminum—a methyl-aluminum neurotoxin created from manufacturing aluminum.
Almost all of us have been exposed to it in one way or another, whether from fluoride treatments, toothpaste, or fluoridated tap water, and if we’ve had that exposure, it hasn’t left our bodies unless we’ve taken the proper steps to remove it. Speaking of tap water, town and city water supplies all have trace levels of toxic heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, copper, aluminum, and even mercury that are deemed safe enough for consumption without true knowledge of what happens when those trace metals accumulate in our system over time. Even if you use water filtration at home, you’re exposed when eating out.
Healing Supplements
Spirulina is an incredible supplement that will help pull heavy metals like mercury out of the intestinal tract, while also remineralizing teeth and gums. It will not pull mercury out of any silver fillings you might have, it will only draw out the mercury that’s been creating havoc in your system for years. Sovereign silver helps fight against bacterial issues and is an overall excellent support for the gums and teeth. Check out Micro-C for a great source of vitamin C, which is incredible for both gums and teeth. If a dentist indicates you may have a low-grade infection, increasing the amount of Vitamin C you are taking can be very beneficial. Coenzyme Q10 and a probiotic are two other supportive supplements. A helpful herbal tea to try out is peppermint.

Real-Sky Astrology: Reading the Planets Where They Actually Were
Most people are familiar with the tropical zodiac, the zodiac system commonly used in Western astrology. The tropical zodiac is based on the relationship between the ecliptic and the seasons and uses twelve equal 30-degree signs.
Real-Sky Astrology takes a different approach.
Instead of assigning a planet to a symbolic zodiac sign according to a fixed seasonal framework, a Real-Sky Chart calculates the astronomical position of the Sun, Moon and planets for the actual date, time and location of birth and then identifies the physical constellation occupied by each body using the official IAU constellation boundaries.
This means that the astronomical sky itself becomes the starting point for the interpretation.
What Is a Real-Sky Chart?
A Real-Sky Chart is an astronomical birth-chart framework based on the calculated positions of celestial bodies at the moment of birth.
The process begins with the actual date, time and geographical location of birth. Planetary positions can then be calculated using astronomical ephemeris data and expressed in celestial coordinates. Those positions are subsequently compared with the official boundaries of the constellations.
The result is a chart that identifies which physical constellation each planet was actually occupying at the time of birth.
Key characteristics include:
- Physical constellations rather than twelve equal symbolic signs
- Astronomically calculated planetary positions
- The official IAU constellation boundaries
- Ophiuchus included where the astronomical position falls within its boundaries
- Actual sky positions rather than a purely seasonal zodiac framework
- A clearly defined birth date, time and geographical location
The astronomical calculation provides the positional foundation. The meaning assigned to those positions is then interpreted through the Real-Sky astrological framework.
Real Constellations and the Tropical Zodiac
One of the fundamental differences between Real-Sky Astrology and tropical astrology is the way the zodiac is defined.
The tropical zodiac divides the ecliptic into twelve equal 30-degree signs beginning from the vernal equinox. The physical constellations, however, are not twelve equal sections of the sky. They have different sizes and are defined by the official boundaries established by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
Because of Earth's axial precession, the relationship between the seasonal reference points used by the tropical zodiac and the background constellations has changed over thousands of years.
As a result, a person's tropical Sun sign does not necessarily identify the physical constellation in which the Sun was located at birth.
Real-Sky Astrology focuses specifically on that distinction.
Why Ophiuchus Matters
The Sun's apparent annual path across the sky, the ecliptic, passes through thirteen IAU-defined constellations, including Ophiuchus.
Traditional twelve-sign astrology does not use Ophiuchus as a zodiac sign. A Real-Sky approach does not need to exclude it simply because the traditional system uses twelve equal signs.
If a planet's calculated astronomical position falls within Ophiuchus according to the IAU boundaries, the Real-Sky chart records it there.
For example, Omar Botha's natal Neptune is located in Ophiuchus in the Real-Sky chart.
What a Real-Sky Chart Shows
A Real-Sky birth chart can identify the astronomical constellation occupied by each major planetary body at birth, including:
- Sun — the astronomical constellation of the Sun at birth
- Moon — the astronomical constellation of the Moon
- Mercury — the astronomical constellation of Mercury
- Venus — the astronomical constellation of Venus
- Mars — the astronomical constellation of Mars
- Jupiter — the astronomical constellation of Jupiter
- Saturn — the astronomical constellation of Saturn
- Uranus — the astronomical constellation of Uranus
- Neptune — the astronomical constellation of Neptune
- Pluto — the astronomical constellation of Pluto
The astronomical positions themselves are calculated data. The interpretation of what those positions may symbolise in personality, life themes or timing belongs to the astrological framework.
Astronomy First. Interpretation Second.
This distinction is central to the Soulcare approach.
Astronomy determines where the planets were.
Real-Sky Astrology interprets what those positions may represent.
This allows the calculation and the interpretation to remain clearly separated.
The chart therefore begins with measurable astronomical information — date, time, location and planetary position — before moving into the symbolic and interpretive layer of astrology.
Why Use Real-Sky Astrology?
For people who are interested in the relationship between astrology and the physical sky, Real-Sky Astrology provides a different way of approaching a birth chart.
- It starts with astronomical positions.
- It uses the actual constellation boundaries.
- It acknowledges that constellations have different sizes.
- It includes Ophiuchus when appropriate.
- It makes the underlying astronomical position visible.
- It provides a consistent framework for interpreting those positions.
The intention is not to replace astronomy with astrology. Rather, it is to use astronomical information as the foundation for an astrological interpretation.
What a Real-Sky Reading Can Explore
Once the astronomical chart has been established, a Real-Sky reading can explore themes such as:
- personal identity and motivation
- emotional patterns
- communication and thinking
- relationships and values
- action and ambition
- growth and expansion
- responsibility and long-term development
- transformation and change
- healing and spiritual themes
- timing and periods of heightened activity
These are interpretive themes, not astronomical measurements. The value of the reading lies in using the chart as a structured framework for reflection, exploration and guidance.
Why People Explore Their Real-Sky Chart
Many people become interested in Real-Sky Astrology because the physical constellations shown in an astronomical chart can differ substantially from the zodiac signs they have always been told they belong to.
Seeing the actual astronomical configuration can provide a new perspective on familiar questions:
- How do I understand my natural patterns?
- What motivates the way I act?
- How do I respond to pressure and change?
- What themes repeatedly appear in my life?
- Why do particular periods feel especially significant?
- How can I use greater self-awareness when making decisions?
A Real-Sky reading provides a structured way to explore those questions through the astronomical chart and its astrological interpretation.
The Soulcare Real-Sky Approach
Soulcare combines the astronomical chart with practical interpretation rather than treating astrology as a substitute for personal judgment.
The approach is:
- astronomically grounded in planetary positions
- constellation-based using IAU boundaries
- structured rather than purely intuitive
- practical in its application
- reflective rather than deterministic
The chart is used as a framework for understanding patterns and timing, while the individual remains responsible for interpreting those insights and making their own decisions.
Why Work With Omar Botha?
Omar Botha's Real-Sky approach combines astronomical chart calculation with extensive experience in healing, nutrition, personal development and practical life guidance.
The approach places particular emphasis on:
- the actual astronomical positions of the planets
- the physical constellations occupied by those planets
- IAU constellation boundaries
- clear chart structure
- practical interpretation
- personal reflection and timing
Rather than simply telling you what a conventional zodiac sign supposedly means, the aim is to first establish where the planets actually were and then explore what those positions may mean within the Real-Sky framework.
Sessions are R2000 or US$125 per hour.

Acid Reflux – Understanding the Deeper Healing Perspective
Soulcare Healing with International Healer Omar Botha
Acid reflux and heartburn are often explained as stomach acid moving backwards into the oesophagus. The healing framework explored here looks deeper, focusing particularly on bacterial activity, liver burden, digestive weakness and the balance of different acids involved in digestion.
This article follows the Medical Medium healing framework that informs part of my work and explores nutritional, herbal and lifestyle approaches discussed within that framework.
What Is Acid Reflux?
Within the source framework, acid reflux is connected to acids, but the commonly assumed explanation of gastric or hydrochloric acid coming directly from the stomach is challenged.
The framework proposes that in many cases the irritating acid may be produced by bacteria or toxins, particularly in connection with the liver and digestive tract. This bacterial activity may create an acidic substance that can produce the burning sensations associated with reflux and heartburn.
The Healing Perspective
The source framework proposes that what appears to be an excess of stomach acid may sometimes instead reflect insufficient protective hydrochloric acid combined with bacterial activity.
The source material also discusses the relationship between digestion, the liver, bile production and bacterial growth. It presents a weakened or overburdened liver as one possible contributor to digestive problems.
For further information on liver health within this framework, explore Liver Rescue.
The Three Goals for Healing Acid Reflux
According to the healing framework used in this article, addressing acid reflux involves more than suppressing symptoms with a single remedy.
Support Hydrochloric Acid
Support the stomach's protective digestive environment.
Address Bacteria
Support the body against unproductive bacterial growth.
Support the Liver
Reduce the burden on the liver and support healthy digestion.
What to Eat
The source framework places strong emphasis on fresh, whole plant foods and healthy carbohydrates when supporting the body through acid reflux.
Fresh fruit is highlighted as an important healing food within the framework.
A source of healthy carbohydrates and energy.
Nutrient-rich carbohydrates for a whole-food diet.
Another supportive source of nourishing carbohydrates.
The framework also encourages fresh salads containing foods such as:
- Cucumbers
- Tomatoes
- Spinach
- Mâche
- Butter lettuce
- Sprouts and microgreens
- Raw onion
- Raw garlic
- Avocado
- Fresh thyme, oregano, rosemary and sage
The Importance of Celery Juice
Celery Juice
The source material places particular emphasis on straight celery juice as a daily practice for people working on acid reflux and heartburn within this healing framework.
Suggested source protocol:
- 400 ml straight celery juice
- Drink in the morning on an empty stomach
- Do not mix it with other ingredients for the source protocol
- A smaller amount may also be used according to individual tolerance
The source framework also discusses celery juice in relation to stomach glands, mineral salts and digestive support. Learn more in Thyroid Healing.
Antibacterial Support
Within the Medical Medium framework, fresh fruits and vegetables are considered important natural support for the body when addressing bacterial activity.
The source material also highlights a number of herbs and supplements:
Goldenseal
A traditional herbal antibacterial discussed within the source framework.
Elderberry Tea
Included in the source material as part of an herbal support approach.
Licorice Root
The source discusses licorice root tincture or tea as an additional herbal option.
Olive Leaf & Aloe Vera
Both are discussed in the source as additional herbal support options.

My Soulcare approach looks at digestion as part of the whole person rather than as an isolated symptom.
When supporting someone with digestive discomfort, I may explore:
- Food choices and nutritional patterns
- Hydration
- Liver and digestive support
- Stress and emotional wellbeing
- Herbal and nutritional wellness practices
- Energy balance
- Rest and nervous-system support
