Healing Broth Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 carrots, chopped or 1 sweet potato, cubed
  • 2 stalks of celery, roughly chopped
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 cup of shiitake mushrooms, fresh or dried (optional)
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped (optional)
  • 1 bulb of garlic (about 6-8 cloves), minced
  • 1 inch of fresh ginger root
  • 1 inch of fresh turmeric root
  • 8 cups of water
  • Optional: Chili peppers or red pepper flakes

Directions:

Place all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a gentle boil. Turn heat down to low and allow to simmer for about an hour. Strain and sip for a mineral rich, healing and restorative broth or leave the veggies in to enjoy as a light healing soup.

Garlic Potato Bread

There’s nothing quite like a piping hot bowl of vegetable broth or soup served with garlic bread. In this recipe, the traditional wheat flour bread is swapped with golden brown potato slices that are topped with fresh minced garlic. You don’t need to worry about eating too much of this Garlic Potato bread or worsening chronic illness symptoms. With no wheat, dairy or processed ingredients, you can enjoy to your heart’s and body’s content!

Potatoes are a nutritious, healthy food that are rich in vitamins A, C, & B-complex and minerals such as manganese, iron, magnesium, and potassium. Potatoes contain an antioxidant called quercetin, which has anti-cancer and cardio-protective properties as well as a storage protein called patatin which has been shown to exhibit activity against disease causing free radicals. Potatoes are an excellent source of B6, a vitamin which is essential for the formation of almost every new cell in the body. Vitamin B6 also is a vital component for the neurological system and for the creation of amines which are neurotransmitters that send messages from one nerve to the next.

Garlic Potato Bread

Ingredients:
4 russet potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch rounds
4 garlic cloves, crushed or finely minced
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp sea salt, more to taste
1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the potato rounds in a large bowl and add the garlic, thyme, salt and pepper. Mix until evenly coated.

Arrange the potato rounds on the baking sheet 1/2 inch apart. Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes, until cooked through and browned on the outside. Serve with Healing Broth or a soup of your choice.
